Dakshinachitra

Dakshinachitra

This is a Heritage village located in Muttukadu at a distance of 26 Kms from Chennai and lies on the way to Mahabalipuram. This village consists of 17 Heritage houses, focused on conserving the Dravidian style (South Indian) and was opened for public in 1996. It is a project under the Madras Craft Foundation (MCF).
Dakshinachitra

It is an organization dedicated to the orientation of Children. They organize events that are a good platform for the children to participate and execute their talents. There is an open air museum also where one can learn the unique lifestyle followed in a scientific manner also known as Ethnography. Not only this, traditional games like board games, spin tops and breaking pots are organized for children to play and learn the history.

For accommodation they have made guesthouses and for eating one can go to the restaurant named Kalani, where fast food is available. It is a great place for shopping as well and one can buy jewelry, authentic Indian crafts, art, and textiles.

It is a great initiative taken by MCF to preserve the Dravidian culture and to create awareness in people about it.
