Emerald Trail – A Home Away From Home
Emerald Trail
Emerald trail, where tourism has some real different meaning. It is located in 10 kms uphill from Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, very close to Jungaliagaon. It was Sumith Dutta who once came to this part of Kumao and was awestruck by the scenic beauty of this place. He then envisioned the Emerald trail and developed it into a most self-sufficient tourist spot.

The main purpose of Emerald Trail was to provide tourists a subtle holiday destination with amazing panoramic views. The aim was to also provide employment to the poor villagers Kumao. For accommodation it offers Eco cottages made in Colonial style with 4 bedrooms, attached bathrooms, a common living and dining areas. One more room is made of local stone for the families who want to stay privately in peace.

The theme of this place is ‘Family Holidays’, where there is entertainment for all the age groups. This is a perfect place for those who want to get away, for some days, from the daily hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle. The place offers alluring views. Kitchens, at these ecofriendly bungalows, allow tourists to check out their cooking skills with full support of the cooks (village people) that are chosen by experts.

Adventure activities like Mountain biking, trekking and paragliding are also organized. It has the ideal settings for sketching and painting with a huge space for the children to enjoy outdoor activities. Nature lovers can also visit the butterfly and moth collections in Bhimtal.

For longer stays and more fun, tourists can go around for the sightseeing to Nainital, Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal and can enjoy the boat ride and Kayaking, swimming, rappelling and rafting.

For spiritual enthusiasts, there are sacred places like, Naina Devi Temple, Mukteshwar Dham, Chota Kailash and Jaageshwar Temple.

Best way to reach there is to take a train to Kathgodam and from Kathgodam station taxies are available to Jungaliagaon and Emerald trail.

Emerald trail is not only a great asset to our environment but a homely experience away from home.
